Thailand is an immaculate country set smack dab in the middle of South East Asia.
Some 32 million+ backpackers, families, and luxury travelers pour into the country on an annual basis. And among the many treasures it has to offer, Phuket truly stands out.
Phuket is a wonderful island set in Southern Thailand. What we like about Phuket is its large size makes it so you don’t feel crowded while enjoying the natural beauty of the area.
If you’re making the journey to Phuket soon, you’ll find there are no shortage of things to do on the island. To help give you some direction though, below, our team has compiled a list of our top 10 things to do in Phuket.
1. Kata Noi Beach
If you’re going to be in Phuket between November and April, one of the best things to do in Phuket is to stroll on over to Kata Noi Beach for a swim. Kata Noi beach boasts crystal blue, warm waters that are more than likely empty since Kata Noi is more impervious to tourist rushes in comparison to other beaches.
Swimming isn’t the only thing you can do here. Relax on the sand, read a book, take a walk. No matter what you do, the beauty of the beach will make your activities memorable.
2. Phuket’s Big Buddha
The most famous landmark of Phuket is its Big Buddha. Chances are visiting this historic statue was already on your things to do in Phuket list. If not, it definitely deserves a slot.
From the top of the hill where Buddha sits prepare to take in breathtaking views of the surrounding ocean.
3. Karon View Point
Want to see what’s commonly thought to be the most picturesque view in all of Phuket? If so, head on down to Karon View Point.
Karon View Point is just off of Kata Noi Beach and offers breathtaking views that are non-obstructed of the surrounding island.
Be prepared to fend off tourists though. This spot is very popular.
4. Weekend Night Market
Every weekend, locals of Phuket sell their wares in what is one of the most vivacious and delicious night markets in all of South East Asia. You can expect everything from Thia souvenirs to over-the-top kabobs, alcoholic beverages, and dinner entrees.
The market gets very crowded, particularly during tourist seasons. So, if large groups of people make you uncomfortable, you’ll want to pop in in the early afternoon.
5. Tiger Kingdom
We have mixed feelings when it comes to Tiger Kingdom in Phuket.
On the one hand, it offers tourists the once in a lifetime experience of getting up close and personal with tigers. On the other, Tiger Kingdom raises tigers in captivity from birth until death with no notable effort to reintroduce them back into the wild.
Whether or not you’re comfortable with keeping animals in captivity (not for the purposes of rehabilitation but for tourist fun) is up to you. At the end of the day though, there’s no denying the incredible encounters on offer at Tiger Kingdom.
6. Bangla Road
Looking for a great spot to kick back, watch some sports, and drink? Bangla road has you covered.
When the sun goes down, Bangla road is cut-off from cars and open solely to foot traffic. That makes for streets that explode with life, incredible opportunities to chat up locals and endless fun.
7. Macaques Watching at Monkey Hill
We’ve all done our fair share of bird watching but Macaques watching? That’s a treat reserved solely for when you’re in South East Asia.
If you’re looking for things to do in Phuket, we recommend moseying on over to the highest hill on the island which is affectionately called, “Monkey Hill.” From there, you can enjoy watching Macaques play in the trees.
8. Simon Cabaret Show
If you want to have some ladyboy fun in Phuket, the Simon Cabaret show is the place to do it. Groups of talented ladyboys do one hour shows almost every night.
The theater is spacious, comfy, and spending the evening watching the show gives tourists a break from the chaos of the Thia streets outside.
9. Phuket FantaSea
There’s no better place to get Vegas-style fun in Phuket than at the Phuket FantaSea Show. Here you’ll find incredible buffets, live performances, carnival games, and more all fighting for your attention.
You could easily spend a whole day exploring everything the FantaSea area has to offer and, given how varied the experiences are, everyone in your travel party is sure to find something they can appreciate.
10. Have a Relaxing Stroll Through Phuket Old Town
Phuket Old Town is a collection of eye-catching buildings painted in bright colors that popped up during a Thia economic boom way back when. The charm of this area in Phuket is undeniable.
People who take the time to give Phuket Old Town a slot on their itinerary will be treated to delicious food being sold out of houses that double as shops and wonderful souvenirs that feel more handcrafted and niche then you’ll find in the other more popular tourist zones on the island.
Wrapping Up Things to Do in Phuket

If you do that, you’ll feel truly fulfilled in your visit to the area.
