Spring is upon us in Spain and although the clocks do not officially change until later this month, the weather is a reflection that it is by far warm enough for a warm break, away from the maddening crowds. With Mallorca being just a short flight away from the UK and other European countries, why not take advantage of a relaxing stay at Marriott’s Son Antem! With summer just around the corner, it is time to give yourself a final health kick before the months of decadence start.

Here is what you can expect from the beautiful island of Mallorca in the Spring.

Seasonal Food in Spring

In spring, many fresh vegetables are available once again at the markets. And in Mallorca, spring is also the time to indulge in lamb and asparagus. Aside from the onsite restaurants, due to the perfect situation of Marriott’s Son Antem, here are a couple more restaurants you can check out.

Ca Na Toneta
A charming restaurant in the centre of  quaint Caimari, is run by two sisters Maria and Teresa. They have a short menu, but the beauty is, it is based on seasonal food, with organically grown produce from their family garden. Meat, mostly lamb and goat, but also fish, are also bought from local suppliers in the area. Try the light carpaccio of zucchini with goat´s cheese, or the delicious leg of lamb, followed by one of the indulgent homemade desserts.

+Natural

This restaurant is centered around the idea of advocating healthy and balanced eating, with all of their food bought fresh from the local market and their recipes prepared with the help of a nutritionist. They are located in the city of Palma, right on the Plaza de Espana.

Exercise and activities for Spring

Whether it’s sailing, golf or a long walk in the countryside that appeals to you- You can get out in the fresh air and get in shape in Mallorca. You can spend days with family and friends in a beautiful setting, with the perfect temperature that allows you to take part in outdoor activities.

Mallorca Hiking

Mallorca offers incredible and varied opportunities for hikes in the mountains. From day trips to walking holidays, Mallorca Hiking is a company which offers tailor made guided walking tours of Mallorca. Simply let them know in advance what you’d like to do and they’ll arrange it for you. A spring favourite is a the route from Cala Estreta, near Artà, which offers wooded paths and tracks, stunning mountain views, and deserted beaches with vibrant turquoise seas – which make for the perfect place to take a break and have a picnic.

Learn to Sail

Spring is a good time to brush up on your sailing skills before summer, or simply to relax on a boat tour while the island and harbours are still calm and peaceful and not over crowded with hoards of tourists.

You can even take lessons, where the royals learned to sail: Cala Nova, the small harbor of Cas Catalá, is where the children of the Royal family took their first lessons, but the sailing schools of Pollensa have also gained an excellent reputation.

Play Golf

With a challenging, yet enjoyable golf course right on your doorstep as part of Marriott’s Son Antem, spend an afternoon playing a round of golf after enjoying lunch on the sunny terrace of your townhouse. If you wish to venture further afield to play, then Mallorca is home to some wonderful courses, namely, Suon Gal or Maloris.

Family Excursions

If you are travelling with young children, who might not be old enough to go for long walks, or extended outdoor activity, then consider an outing to the following places:

Palma Aquarium

The spectacular marine park on the Playa de Palma is a fabulous experience for adults and children. The individual ecosystems of the different seas have been re-modeled in 55 aquariums, bringing you the opportunity to see the flora and fauna of the Mediterranean, the Pacific, the Atlantic and the world’s many seas.

Pirate Adventure Show
